U2 …

What an incredible … band — powerful empire — influential cult (I am using websters definition #2 for cult so no one panic.) Def. = An interest followed with exaggerated zeal

Anyway…It was absolutely amazing. Wish I had Dean’s camera phone to snap a few shots. We had special wrist bands so that we could be on the floor. I was so close to Bono!!! I could see his 5 o’clock shadow, thinning hair line and all the sweat glistening on his face. At one point Bono and the Edge did an impromptu song that obviously wasn’t in the lineup (Wild Horses off the Actung Baby CD)…Bono forgot the words and asked for a moment…classic! Then, at end of the song, the Edge snapped a guitar string…and Bono laughed! They just rolled with it. They are clearly good friends and their chemistry is undeniable.

Bono, once again, praised God publicly. Before he sang Miracle Drug he spoke of how doctors have created medicine that we ship to third world countries and the millions of lives that have been saved because of that medicine. He said he believes God created those scientists and gave them the minds to do these wonderful things. Preach it Bono! People cheered like crazy when he said that. Ahhh the power of influence. He got people to chant things, sing his lyrics, raise their arms in praise…very fascinating to watch people and those that control them.

The entire ethos in the stadium was bursting with this band’s obvious passion to end poverty. They praised those who have tried to make a difference in this life (i.e. Dr Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and Miss Sarajevo.) He also sang some little tunes that he came up with on the spot and at one point acknowledged his beautiful wife and his desire to go home to her tonight. He called her “the love of his life” WOW I love this man!

He was excited about One.org and the fact that they only expected one million people to sign the petition this year and it’s already up to 2 million. He wants 10 million next! (Reminds me a little bit of Vox!)

Bono also made a point of saying, “thank you for giving us this wonderful life!” He got so excited and pumped by the crowd. A couple of times he just stopped and smiled in what I would describe as this cute little awe and amazement. His excitement caused him to break into a silly little dance of joy at one point … funny after all these years that he can still get tickled by how much their fans love them.

It was great! I loved being with Johnny (my U2 partner in crime … hee hee)

I get the strong sense Bono realizes the power he has to change the world. We all have this power … the difference between those who change the world and those who don’t is the choice to get up and move. As humans we can admire those who make a difference, we can spend our life talking about how cool it would be to make a difference or we CAN make a difference. I’m choosing to change the world!

Rock on U2 … go out there and use your celebrity, money and influence to change the world!
